Suzuki debuted the GSX1100F to the ‘GSX” line in the golden era of motorcycles – the 80’s. The F model was designed with sport-touring in mind, taking the engine that was in the current GSX-R 1100 and retuning it for better fueling, and better power delivery on the bottom-end. Suzuki did more than just adjust the fueling though, including a rebore, softer cams, and smaller Mikuni carbs, making this a more approachable and friendlier to ride bike for those long distance getaways.
Other features of this new for the time Katana included an electronically adjustable windscreen, redesigned steel frame, and a 5.5 gallon tank.
Stemming from the lack of Swiss-army-knife do it all that was the GS1150, the newly debuted GSX1100F offered those similar features to the already established Suzuki market. The Katana was now boxed up in a demure, reserved, and approachable package that allowed riders that didn’t fit into the current line of Suzuki models to feel welcome with the brand in blue hailing from the land of the rising sun.
Manufactured in October 1990, this example is VIN: JS1GV72A9M2100147. The seller is the third owner, he acquired it from a private party six months ago in Palm Springs, California.
During his ownership, the seller has covered 200 miles. The odometer shows 27,720 miles.
Maintenance:
The seller reports that he has installed:
Shinko tires from 2022.
New front brake and clutch master cylinders.
A new chain.
He notes that the carbs have been cleaned. That said, the seller finds a “hesitation between 2-3k rpm because the carbs are not jetted for pods.”
Modifications:
Yoshimura dual exhaust.
Pod filters.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
“Some scrapes on tank and lower fairing.”
The seller reports that the “LCD readout on the bike does not currently function.”

Currently located in Winchester, California, this Suzuki is offered on a clean California title with registration current through March 2023.
