Back in 1970, Yamaha cashed in on the growing minibike craze with the JT1, a tiny two-stroke designed to get young riders out in the dirt. Not wanting to be left by the wayside, Honda introduced its own offering just a year later: the SL70.
Unlike its competitors, the SL70 was based around an air-cooled four-stroke single. Measuring 72cc in displacement, it pushed a claimed 6.5hp through its four-speed manual transmission. In typical Honda fashion, it was over-engineered for uncompromising reliability. Unfortunately, however, this also meant that it was heavy for its size — some 153lbs dry compared to the JT1’s 121lbs wet.
As a result, many riders found the SL70 to be a bit lukewarm in its power output. Expectedly, Honda fans searched for ways to give their pit bikes some added grunt. Between high lift cams, larger carbs, stroked cranks, and big bore kits, there were plenty of parts available to turn the humble little four-stroke into a trail-ripping terror. Honda eventually discontinued the bike in 1973, replacing it with the very different (and far lighter) XR75.
This example is VIN: SL701048416. The seller acquired the bike approximately one year ago.
There is no odometer, true mileage is unknown.

The seller reports that the bike was given “fresh fluids upon arrival.”
He adds that the horn and tail light do not work.

The seller states that this SL70 is completely stock.
