When Harley’s FX-based Low Rider first hit showroom floors back in 1977, it was an immediate success. With its alloy wheels, extended forks, and 26″ seat height, it outsold all of The Motor Company’s other models in its first full year of production.
Over the years, Harley continued to sell variations of the Low Rider derived from both its FXR and Dyna platforms. Along with reaping the benefits of belt drive, rubber engine mounts, and sturdier frame tubes, it also received creature comforts like improved instrumentation and self-canceling turn signals, as well as eye-catching aesthetic makeovers in the form of the Sturgis and Daytona Editions. Eventually, however, Harley-Davidson stopped production of the Low Rider in 2009.
Come 2014, the model made its return via the FXDL. In keeping with the Low Rider’s roots, Harley-Davidson designed the bike to accommodate shorter riders. Thanks to a clever adjustable seat and a pivoting riser assembly, it was sized such that it could fit anyone from 5’1″ to 6’1″ in height.
Of course, geometry alone wasn’t enough to warrant a complete model reintroduction; Harley also worked to find the ideal balance between comfort and performance. Accordingly, the fork and shocks were fitted with tri-rate springs, giving riders improved response over a range of road conditions whilst minimizing brake dive during aggressive stopping efforts. In combination with a set of dual 300mm front discs, four-pot calipers, and a thumping Twin Cam 103 engine — good for 75hp and 98.8lb-ft of torque — the changes made for a thrilling update to a bike tipping the scales at some 666lbs dry.
This example is VIN: 1HD1GNM26EC316094, engine #: GNME316094. The seller acquired the bike from a tractor/lawn equipment dealer back in 2017. He states that “This bike has been a garage queen its whole life; taken out for car shows or coffee parking lots with friends to be shown off. I’d love for this bike to go to someone looking to daily it and get the most out of it; it’s a complete neck breaker.”
During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 3,330 miles. The odometer shows 11,343 miles.
Maintenance:
The seller reports that the bike “has been dyno-tuned by one of the best Harley shops on the East Coast, Rosa’s. Currently has a mixture mapping and tuning that achieves the perfect balance for both speed and comfort. It has explosive torque for ripping the canyons and is snappy enough to get your knees down on smooth corners, but still has a great high-end that’s comfortable for long distance.”
Moreover, he has performed “yearly oil changes” as well as “a swap of the spark plugs and main drivetrain belt in 2020.”
Finally, he notes that there is “Not a single mechanical issue – runs strong, rides hard… All it would need is an oil change, a fresh set of tires and a fresh tank of gas (the tank currently has Sta-bil in it from storage).”

Cosmetic Blemishes:
Per the seller: “VERY minimal wear – there’s a small scratch at the very back of the rear fender, and some of the chrome has light oxidation that a good buffing would take out. The photo of the kickstand is a good example of the worst case of the oxidation, and that can still be worked out.”
