Nobuatsu Aoki was a Grand Prix road racer in the 250cc, the 500cc, and the MotoGP class. His GP career began in 1990, and in that same year had his first victory in the 250cc Malaysian Grand Prix. His most notable achievement came a few years later in 1997, when he finished 3rd in the championship behind the legendary Mick Doohan and Tadayuki Okada.

After his early promise, Aoki continued to compete in MotoGP until 2008. He first signed with Proton KR and then moved to back to Suzuki as a test rider in 2005. His resolve to race was impressive to say the least — not only did he make a comeback after being treated for cancer, but he also continued to compete well past his 40s. In fact, Nobuatsu Aoki retired just last year (in 2022) at the age of 50, capping off his roadracing career with an appearance in the Suzuka 8 Hours Race.
