Suzuki turned the ATV industry on its head when it introduced the LT250R in 1985. Up until that point, anything with more than three wheels was overlooked by serious racing enthusiasts; between the low power and the extra weight, quads proved a hard sell. In fact, Suzuki actually released another quad prior to the LT250R — the LT250E Quadrunner — without much success.
In order to shave some mass, engineers fitted the chassis with a plethora of lightweight aluminum parts, including the swingarm, the rear axle carrier, the engine cases, the front spindles, and the rear shock link. On the trails, this meant that the LT250R came in at a svelte 325lbs, making it one of the lightest production full-size race quads ever sold.
For the powerplant, Suzuki utilized a liquid-cooled 249cc two-stroke single. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a Mikuni VM34SS carb, the buzzy oil-burner was good for a claimed 35hp and a top speed of approximately 70mph. And here’s the thing — elsewhere, the LT250R boasted technology that still continues to be relevant to this day, such as four-way adjustable floating rear suspension, five-way adjustable double wishbone front suspension, hydraulic disc brakes, and a solid rear axle.
This example is VIN: JSAAJ12A0H2105936. The seller acquired the quad two years ago; since that time, it has been used sparingly as a shop ride.
During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 10 miles. However, there is no odometer, so true mileage is unknown.
Maintenance:
The seller reports that he has changed the oil and replaced the spark plug and air filter. Additionally, he has performed a compression check.
