8/20 Update: We apologize for the inconvenience. One of our followers pointed out that this is likely a 1988 model based on the bodywork. It has been titled as a 1989.
Suzuki pulled the cover off the first-year GSX-R750 at the 1984 Cologne Motor Show, before its official launch in March of 1985. Upon its release, the Gixxer was unquestionably king, setting a new benchmark in the industry.
Suzuki revamped just about everything for the 1988 debut of the second generation. The aerodynamics were improved (11% less drag), the wheelbase was shortest in class (140cm), and the alloy frame was stronger (60% more rigidity). There were several other upgrades (such as a new short-stroke 748cc engine), but one specific change would end up becoming a nickname for the entire generation – the “slingshot” Mikuni BST36SS carbs.
Basic specifications were 112 horsepower, 55 lb-ft of torque, and a dry weight of 430 pounds. New for ’88 were 17″ wheels, while braking duties were handled by 320mm dual hydraulic discs up front and a 220mm hydraulic disc in the rear.
This example is VIN: GR77C102160. It came to Iconic as an import from Japan.
The odometer shows 64,904 kilometers (40,329 miles).

Please note that as an import, this bike lacks certain compliance and emissions stickers that the state of California would require to transfer a title.
