Launched in November of 1984, the Le Mans 1000 was said to be styled with the personal direction of De Tomasso himself. The new product was unsurprisingly bigger than its predecessor, the 850, but came with improved ergonomics and and all new 949cc engine. The ‘Big Valve’ (47mm intake and 40mm exhaust) pumped out 81hp at 7400 rpm, per Moto Guzzi.

In ’88, the 16-inch front wheel was replaced with a much more popular 18-incher as well as a new CI model. This version was the last of the legendary Tonti-framed Le Mans’, and the 1000 CI eventually became known as the 1000 Mark V NT (for New Type).

According to author Ian Falloon, changes for the CI included a Saprisa alternator, a higher capacity oil pump, a new speedometer, some longer fork springs, and color options of black and red. In 1991, only 17 1000 CIs were shipped to the U.S.

This example is VIN: ZGUVVBVV1MM100563. The seller purchased the bike from a Moto Guzzi dealer in 2020.

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 3,000 miles. The odometer shows 15,052 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller states he has rebuilt the linked brake system and that, “this is a well sorted, smooth running GT bike that is barely breaking a sweat at 100 mph. I rode the bike to the Quail Gathering in Monterrey this year, about 1,500 miles round trip from my home in Phoenix. Rather crossing the Mojave, running up the California coastal mountains or parked on Cannery Row it performed flawlessly. It is ready to take you most anywhere.”

Modifications:
Staintune exhaust.

Braided stainless steel brake lines.

Not pictured: lighter pull throttle springs.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Continental Conti Classic Attack tires from 2021.

The sale includes two keys.
