I’ve mentioned quite a few new endeavors launching in 2024…this one is LIVE.

We currently have 4 newer BMW GS’s and one older bike now part of the @motocalifornia & @iconicmotorbikes rental program!

Rentals are available through Twisted Road rentals @twistedroad to help cover us on insurance requirements and such.

I realize these bikes may be a bit large for all riders so we will work on adding some other bikes as soon as we hear back from @piaggio_americas

One-way rentals are available as Iconicmotorbikes Transport can bring them back.

A bunch of us are riding to The Quail @thequailevents on Friday morning as Iconic has a booth there. Join us! The rentals are still available. Going to be a really fun ride.

I bought this ZX7R from a executive at Ducati before I started Iconic.

It was nice but I wanted it better so I pulled it all apart, collected a bunch of parts,….and….just never got around to putting it back together as I was busy.

We will wrap this one up early next week, I’m gonna take it for a ride and then it will go on our auction site at iconicmotorbikes.com.

Saturday’s 2nd auction hitting the site is a well-kept example of Suzuki’s elusive up-spec Gixxer 750! This iconic GSX-R750 LE is from 1986 and it’s available for bid now on Iconicmotorbikeauctions.com

Less than a year after the initial release of the GSX-R, Suzuki unveiled an even more hardcore version of the watershed model with the GSX-R750 Limited Edition. Just 500 units were built worldwide, with 350 going to the United States, Canada, and Europe, and the remaining 150 going to Japan. Of those 350, 199 examples went to the United States in order to qualify the model for AMA Superbike competition. At approximately two grand more than the base GSX-R750, the LE carried an MSRP of $6,499, making it the most expensive Japanese sportbike offering upon its release.

The Limited Edition models were also distinguished from the standard version via its special race-inspired livery. Instead of the base model’s white and blue or black and red colors, the LE featured a red, white, and blue scheme complete with “LIMITED EDITION” graphics on the tail. The wheels were also adorned in a matching blue, the chain was gold-plated, and the engine received a special “gun-coat” finish.

Maintenance:
During his ownership, the seller reports that he has performed an annual oil change.
.
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us remove the swingarm spool, adjust the engine oil fill level, top off the brake fluid, and clean and adjust the chain. For our service department’s full condition report, feel free to visit the listing on the auction site!

Per the seller, this Limited Edition is “all original, with the exception of usual maintenance items and a touch up for a paint blemish on the upper left of the front fairing.”

The sale includes two keys, the factory tool kit, the original owner’s manual, a supplementary service manual, as well as a spare oil filter.

Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California, this Suzuki is offered on a clean California title.

Back in 1988, Harley decided to try their hand at knocking off Ducati from their perch atop AMA Superbike. Unfortunately, what would have been top notch technology when the bike was supposed to have been released (in 1991) was well behind the curve when it actually started racing (in 1994). Homologation requirements resulted in the Harley-Davidson VR1000, of which only 55 were sold after a year of production.
.
The VR1000 did not take anything from the Harley parts bin – everything was built specifically for the racer. HD outsourced plenty of the components but kept it all within the good ol’ USA. Roush developed the engine, Penske took care of the suspension, and Wilwood handled the brakes.
.
For $49,000, riders could buy themselves a 135 horsepower, 400 pound racebike with lights that had a lovely split-personality paint job: one stripe of white split halves of black and orange. Only a portion of the 55 were built with the components required to be street-legal, such as the lights, turn signals, and mirrors.
.
The seller acquired the bike five years ago from a dealer as a dismantled package. He notes that it was “originally part of the Don Tilly and THE Gemini racing project.” During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 20 miles. There is no odometer; true mileage is unknown.
.
Maintenance:
The seller reports that this VR1000 is the product of a full rebuilt/restoration.

Modifications:
-Motec ignition
-Per the seller, the sale “comes with loads of spares, including pistons, conrods, valves, cam gears, cams, swingarms, engine cases, and bodywork”

Currently located in Pinkenba, Queensland, Australia, this Harley is offered on a clean Australian title.

Had the most amazing visit from one of our local clients that has bought 4 bikes from us so far. A Vincent Black Shadow, a TZ250, this Moto Guzzi & a KZ1300. As usual..he brought his posse 🙂

These guys right here are so awesome!
.
All of them are pilots. They fly their warbirds together for events at times and just enjoy each others company. One of them owns a machine shop and is helping me with an NR750 part we need.
.
Just love it when they visit. Big hugs, great stories and positive vibes.
.
It’s groups of mates like this that motivated me to pull the trigger on Iconic East. I wanted a place for like minded 2 wheel fanatics like me to hang out, share stories and go for a ride together!
.

I can’t begin to thank my amazing wife enough…well….for everything!

The sweetest, kindest, best friend, most wonderful partner in all our business ventures and most certainly my MUSE!

Before we were married (nearly 8 years ago) I was living on my boat (close to her apartment building) managing my AirBNB rentals and trying to decide what my next career path would be after my decision to leave the corporate rat race.
.
I told Tija…i want to marry you! Then I want to sell my Big bear home, sell all my stuff, clean out my retirement accounts and just follow my lifetime dream….”iconic Motorbikes”.
.
Tijas answer “you HAVE to do it!” (The proposal had already occurred in Hawaii :).
.
She continued to brainstorm with me daily…design our logos…brainstorm with me, help me build it, etc…. Iconic wouldn’t exist without her.
.
4 years later we had the opportunity to buy out her business partner at the company she founded @pinaprops . It wasn’t easy but we did it!!

Don’t get me wrong…we’ve had our ups and downs with the businesses but we are 100% in sync that together we can do anything and persevere!

About 2-3 months ago I said to Tija. I have a new goal! I really love older vintage bikes but I want to learn more. I’ve always been an avid reader but I just don’t like reading from a computer screen…so what does do? She waits for a sale @taschen & gets me these two amazing books! What a thoughtful gift honey!
.
I’m thankful for many things but I’m grateful every moment I get with my wife. Your kindness drives me!!!

I can’t wait to sit at iconic east with my mates, reading through these books and planning out my next adventure on two wheels whether it’s for business or for fun…. Who am I kidding…anything bike related is awesome!

One great auction is closing up on the Iconic Motorbikes site Saturday, and it’s quite the bike! It’s a well-kept example of Ducati’s 1098R Troy Bayliss tribute with only 5,480 miles on the clock — and it’s available for bid until 1PM PST on Iconicmotorbikeauctions.com

In 2002, Ducati released a Bayliss replica based on the 998S. Some seven years later, they did the same — honoring his third and last World Superbike Championship — but with the 1098R. This time, however, production was limited 150 examples in the US (500 worldwide) with a MSRP of $43,995.
.
The 1098R was the highest-spec version of the bike, boasting some carbon fiber bodywork, Marchesini wheels, Öhlins TTX suspension, and titanium connecting rods/bigger valves/higher-lift cams.
.
And here’s the thing: the street bike was surprisingly close to the bike Troy actually raced, the main difference being the pistons. It also had Ducati’s first implementation of traction control on a production bike.
.
Each R came with a ‘race kit’ that included carbon fiber Termi slip-ons and a performance ECU. When installed, they were good for another six horsepower (making for a total of 186 at the crank).
.
Maintenance:
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us replace the battery and the coolant, flush and fill the brake and clutch fluids, and service the chain. We also gave the bike a detailing and installed new Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires.
.
Modifications:
-Race kit exhaust, ECU
-Open clutch cover, Ducati Performance clutch pressure plate
-Carbon fiber reservoirs
-CNC Racing rearsets
-ASM clutch slave cylinder
-Battery tender lead
-Quick-turn gas cap
-Rizoma tail tidy, turn signals
-Superlite sprocket
-The sale includes two keys, the original code card, the stock titanium exhaust, the stock license plate bracket, the stock ECU, the stock clutch cover, replacement air filter, wheel stand, and authenticity plaque

Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California, this Ducati is offered on a clean Montana title.

Steve is back working on my old personal ZX7R. It

Steve is back working on my old personal ZX7R. It’s pretty much the last of the “ol’ Adam projects” but it’s important to me.
.
I started restoring it before I started iconic but just not made it around to completing it and as clients bikes kept coming in, they took priority.
.
One of my mates just sent me this muzzy pipe so Steve cleaned it up a bit. My old friend Carry Andrew freshened the motor up for me before we had a shop of our own and now it’s finally on the final stages of the reassembly. It’s going to be a great RIDER as the bodywork isn’t perfect and I’ve spent plenty on it already.
.
Once it’s done I want to get one ride in on it before it heads to our auction site.
.
Steve isn’t a big fan of ZX7R’s as the OEM flatslides are a pain to tune but I sure appreciate him putting it back together for me :).
.
A ZX7 and a muzzy pipe are like a GSXR & a YOSH….a perfect March!
