Description
Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 1984 Yamaha RZ350. Additional photos are available here for your perusal.
Only sold in the states from 84-85, the RZ350 was the first bike in the US to come equipped with catalytic converters and the first Yamaha street bike in the US to use a perimeter frame. It was also one of the last street-legal two-strokes available in this country.
Estimated production of these bikes was around 20,000 – accidents and time have worn down that number significantly. You’ll note the YPVS acronym on the engine: that stands for Yamaha Power Valve System, a computer-controlled valve that could adjust exhaust port timing. This enabled increased torque at low RPMs while maintaining horsepower higher up in the rev band.
For more on what made the RZ350 special, check out this profile on Cycle World – they “said our July 1984 cover bike rated a “perfect 10” on the fun scale.”
This example is VIN: JYA48H009EA002576; Engine: 48H002576. The seller has owned the bike three years.

The windshield, gauges, turn signals and mirrors are original and in excellent condition. The bike has been ridden several hundred miles since completion and runs and rides as new.”
Modifications:
Per the seller, “All stock and original. The bodywork is all original and not repainted although several parts including the swingarm and mufflers were refinished due to scratches and corrosion.”
Inside of the tank:
The seller states, “You can’t see inside the tank due to the filler neck they used in the RZ’s but when I had the petcock out I checked it with a scope and it was very clean with no rust. The filler cap plastic has a crack in it. Pictures of what you can see included.”
It is riding on Bridgestone BT46 tires with date codes of 1522 and 1622.
The sale includes one key, original registration, and factory tool kit.

“There is a hairline crack in the bottom of the belly pan that has been repaired and there is a hairline crack in the bottom edge of the rt side panel that cannot be seen without taking it off – also repaired.
“The white background on some of the decals has some slight discoloration due to age.”
“The left side of the front fender by the speedo cable grommet has some slight discoloration due to fork oil from leaking fork seals.”
