A mainstay in Suzuki’s small-displacement trail bike lineup, the DR200S is a model with lineage dating all the way back to 1986. And here’s the thing — the package was so solid upon its introduction that it’s remained mostly unchanged since that time.
For the engine, Suzuki opted for a 199cc air-cooled SOHC single. Mated to a five-speed transmission and an electric start, it was good for approximately 20hp and 14lb-ft of torque. Considering the bike’s svelte 278-pound wet weight, the output offered more than enough grunt to get you through traffic around town or over obstacles on the trail.
Elsewhere, Suzuki gave the bike a dirt-appropriate wheel setup with a 21-inch unit in the front and an 18-inch unit out back. Suspension consisted of a pair of telescopic forks and a rear monoshock, with travel coming to 8.1 inches fore and aft. As Total Motorcycle found in their review, “The 2017 Suzuki DR200S is the affordable motorcycle that can tackle a dirt trail or be a street commuter that gets 88MPG with its reliable 199cc engine complete with push-button electric-starting, telescopic front forks, a 3.3 gallon tank, and abundant torque. Maintenance:
In October 2022, the seller had our service department change the oil and oil filter, flush the brake, clean and tune the carb, service the chain, and install new Kenda K270 tires. Then, in December 2022, he had our service department install the RotoPax rack and cannisters.
