A tiny British manufacturer, Velocette was a family-owned firmed that was well-known for creating high quality bikes. With 3 decades of successful international racing experience, and (still-standing) record for a single-cylinder bike running 24 hours at 100 miles per hour, they brought many technical innovations to the world, including a swingarm rear suspension with hydraulic dampers.
After World War II, Velocette sold the LE (Little Engine), a completely new design that was all about cheap, efficient, individual transportation. An evolution of the LE, this Velocette Valiant was supposed to be a sportier version, with more power, better styling, an extra gear on the transmission, and more.
Power jumped up to 12 horsepower, though it was still considered under powered in its day. Surprisingly, the little 192cc engine is actually a boxer twin, with tiny .625 inch Amal Monoblocs. And though all the spec numbers were small, the price wasn’t. In a time where you could buy a Triumph Tiger Cub for $430, the Valiant was $600. Just 1,600 were ever built.
This example is VIN: 218933; Engine: V2002311.
The odometer shows 393 miles, however the seller cannot confirm accuracy.
Maintenance:
The seller states, “Not running. The bike has been a display piece for many years and not in current running condition. Tank has fuel, rust, and junk inside and its pretty bad. Motor turns over and has compression.”
Modifications:
Per the seller, “It is unknown if there were any modifications that were performed by previous or current ownership.”
There is no key or supporting documentation.
