In the late 2000s, BMW debuted three bikes under its HP2 line – the acronym stood for High Performance 2-Cylinder.

The triumvirate consisted of the Enduro, the Megamoto, and the Sport. While each bike is far from commonplace, the Megamoto (BMW’s take on a beefed-up supermoto) is quite a rare beast indeed. It was only sold in 2008, and the German brand brought just 107 examples stateside.

Like its siblings, the Megamoto featured a 1,170cc boxer twin. In this application, it produced a thumping 113 horsepower and 85 pound-feet of torque — plenty of grunt to tear up the road. Arguably more impressive, though, was the dry weight: just 393lbs. Of course, that’s quite a bit larger by typical supermoto standards, but it amounts to quite the diet when you consider BMW’s other big bikes of the time.

In order to accomplish such a feat, BMW stripped away all of the fat from its R1200. Moreover, the Megamoto came equipped with tons of top-shelf components like Brembo brakes, an Öhlins rear shock, a set of Marzocchi forks, and an Akrapovič exhaust. This example is VIN: WB10320018ZK99506. The seller purchased the bike July 2010 from Max BMW Motorcycles in North Hampton, New Hampshire. He states, “I loved the lines of this bike, with its burly single swing arm, brutish front-end, and striking blue/white color. The HP line always attracted me, with its cutting edge features and technology, but this supermoto-inspired geometry was my favorite. The light weight and strong power output makes this bike a hoot to ride, especially blasting around the twistys. The unique suspension, with its long-travel forks and Ohlins shock, makes for a supple ride that can still handle corners at speed. Combined with the basically hand-built boxer engine, it makes for a unique, and very fun, riding experience that always attracts a crowd at the local bike stop. I mainly rode the bike around the twisty hills in the S.F. Bay Area. It has never been a daily commuter. Since moving to Oregon a few years ago, I’ve been riding less and hate to see this beautiful bike sitting too much.”

During his ownership the seller has covered approximately 9,500 miles. The odometer shows 10,443 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller reports, “Regular maintenance, fuel pump replacement.”

Modifications:
Wunderlich performance brake/clutch levers. OEM heated grips.

Drilled gas tank. “Other owners recommended drilling holes in the neck of the gas tank (seen in the pics) which allows the air at the top of the tank to escape and increases the fuel capacity by about 15%.”

Custom leather seat.

Rizoma mirrors.

MachineArt head protectors.

LED turn signals.

Touratech rear rack.

Not shown: Performance-tuned suspension. Wired for electric jacket.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Michelin Power RS 2CT tires with date codes of 3916 and 4816.

The sale includes one key.
