After the polarizing style of the 999’s vertically-stacked headlights, Ducati went back to the single sided swingarm, exhaust under the taillights, and side by side eyes made famous on the 916 – this time with a modern twist.
“The Ducati 1098 was the motorcycle we’d been waiting for since the 916. It’s a Ducati in the truest form.” That’s how MCN summed up the 1098, a bike that was also notable for its tremendous handling and the most powerful V-Twin production engine to date.
This example is VIN: ZDM1XBEWX7B003337. The seller purchased the bike six months ago from a private party and states, “Customer brought in the bike to have it sold on consignment, but before selling it, he wanted it in top-shape so he asked that the valves and belts be checked. We sold it for him in October of 2022. The new owner only put 1,000 +/- in a year and a half. New owner is moving to Oregon so he asked me to sell it for him. I love the bike, so I bought it myself and have been riding it a little bit around the mountains. But, I’m getting a little older and I’m currently on a Harley Road King. I’m selling all my sport bikes.”
During his ownership the seller has covered approximately 1,200 miles. The odometer shows 11,083 miles.
Maintenance:
Per the seller, “15K service was done @ 10,600 miles in May of 2022. The date of the last cam drive belt replacement was May 5, 2022.”
Modifications:
Termignoni exhaust.
It is riding on Dunlop Sportmax Q3+ tires with date codes of 1422 and 1722.
The sale includes one key and the original owner’s manual.
