Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

Husqvarna was started in 1689 near the town of Husqvarna in Sweden. They first began producing bicycles in the late 19th century. In 1903, Husqvarna made the jump to motorcycle manufacturing using imported engines, and wasn’t until 1918 till they started producing machines built entirely in-house.

Although Husqvarna made street motorcycles and raced at the Isle of Man TT, they were better known for producing world-championship motocross and enduro bikes. In the 1960s, Husqvarna`s lightweight, two-stroke off-road bikes helped to make the popular British four-stroke motorcycles obsolete. Husqvarna dominated the motocross world, winning 14 motocross world championships, 24 enduro world championships and 11 Baja 1000 victories in the 1960s and 1970s.

This RT, or Road-Trail, was intentionally designed for enduros with its 245cc two-stroke single. Paired with a 5-speed wide ration gearbox (hence 250WR) the off-roader could push speeds of 70mph. Want to learn more? You can read a period review of the bike from Cycle World in 1973 here.

Manufactured March 1973, this example is VIN: SK00837; Engine: 20260539.. The seller purchased the bike from a private party out of California and states, “I have owned this bike 3 times purchasing from 3 friends. One friend passed away so restored it for him. Bike was originally purchased in So-Cal as a ’73 WR. Upon researching the frame & engine numbers found out the 250 was WR/RT. These 250’s were only made in 1973, so they are rare. 360’s where made in ’73, ’74, ’75 so they are plentiful. Husqvarna made 1,000 RT’s in 1973, both 250’s & 360’s. Most of them going to Europe. Out of that number 25% came to the USA and 1/10 of those were 250’s. The bike is rare!”

True mileage unknown. The odometer shows 3 miles.

Maintenance:
Per the seller, “Full and complete restoration. All receipts. The tank does have some light rust. The tank has been cleaned via instructions from Joe Abbate, renown tank restorer.”

Modifications:
Tail bag.

It is riding on Dunlop tires, “They were installed 3 years ago. The only time they saw action was for the video. Other than that the bike has always been pushed.”

Cosmetic Blemishes:
According to the seller, there are no blemishes.
