Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2022 Yamaha R1 Moto GP Edition
The 1990s were defined by three sport bikes – the Honda CBR900RR, the Ducati 916, and the Yamaha R1. Honda’s CBR900RR started the revolution by being 76 pounds lighter than its lightest competition. Soon after, Ducati released the 916. It was technically competent with fuel injection and even an adjustable steering head angle, but it’s best remembered just for being one of the most beautiful motorcycles of all time. In 1998, Yamaha released the R1 and wiped the floor with everyone else – it was the lightest and most powerful liter bike available and you had to work hard to find a dealer with one in stock.
This example is VIN: JYARN66Y7NA000700. The seller purchased it with 350 miles on it on 7/26/2022 and states “I had previously owned a 2012 Yamaha 50th Anniversary Moto GP Edition bike and loved it to death. I rode it occasionally and even took it to the track once. As I got older and rode it less, I sold the bike but always loved its styling and capabilities. Not long after selling the bike, regret sat in. Not long after that, Yamaha introduced the ’22 version of the Moto GP Anniversary Edition. I knew I wouldn’t ride it much, if at all, but I loved the stying and the capabilities were even greater than the previous version of course. I ended up finding someone who purchased the bike new and within a month or so, also purchased a corvette. He liked the corvette much more and sold me the motorcycle. However, having such a beautiful thing just sitting and looking pretty in my garage turns out to be not as fun as I had hoped. So, it’s on to something that I can comfortably ride.”
He goes on to say “It it truly showroom new as It has sat in my garage under a cover and on a tender for its entire life.”
Maintenance:
The seller states “In September of 2023, I had the bikes break in services performed at my local Yamaha dealer simply because it had been a just over a year since I made the purchase. Additionally, the previous owner had installed an after market tail tidy. I had the dealer re-install the OEM fender / tail assembly.” Oil change completed with first break in service 09/2023.
