Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2022 Triumph Speed Triple RS.
Introduced in 1994, the Speed Triple was named in honor of Triumph’s 1938 Speed Twin. It utilized Triumph’s popular inline triple engine in a streetfighter design that quickly earned a reputation as the hooligan’s bike of choice due to the torquey power delivery, excellent handling, and surprisingly comfortable ergonomics. It’s even the vehicle of choice of Wheelie University!
By 2005 the 955cc was improved to 1050cc, radial front brake calipers were added, and upswept silencers gave it a meaner look. The next evolution was in 2008 with black anodized forks, Brembo brakes up front, new wheels, and claimed power of 131 bhp at 9,250 rpm and peak torque of 77 lb-ft at 7,550 rpm.
2011 brought a serious update to the Speed Triple lineup with an aluminum frame, restyled bug-eye headlights, lower seat, and a 1,050cc motor that produced 133 hp and 82 lb-ft of torque. For 2015, Triumph’s Speed Triple ‘R’ came packed with extra features that made this bike even more appealing and in 2021, the RS package launched with a lighter aluminium frame (and 22lbs lighter overall) and a 1160cc inline three pushing out 177hp and 92ft.-lb. of torque. The new profile was slimmer with a narrower seat and gas tank, and gone is the under-seat exhaust, replaced with an up-swept superbike style can.
