“When the end tells the whole story.” That’s how Ducati introduced the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition, the swan song to decades of twin-powered superbikes going back to the 851. We’re not entirely sure what that means, to be frank, but we don’t care because we know how special the Final Edition is, especially to those of you that prefer the intangibles of a V-2 over a V-4.

The Superquadro engine in the Final Edition had the honor of being the most powerful V-Twin engine to be fully homologated, producing 209 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and 104.7 pound-feet of torque at 9,000 rpm – plenty of oomph to move the 419 pound (wet) machine. The 1,285cc twin features a lighter crankshaft with tungsten inserts for optimal balance, titanium connecting rods, and titanium valves.

It had an MSRP of approximately $40,000, and it officially debuted at the Laguna Seca round of World Superbike. Each model was numbered, though an official production cap was not announced.

As a last hurrah for Ducati’s most advanced V2, the Final Edition more than fulfilled its objective. Per MCN: “With its Superleggera motor and pipes, Panigale R chassis and 1299 S evolution electronics the Final Edition is the ultimate expression of the Ducati’s V-twin superbike. Blisteringly fast, with handling and brakes to match, it’s a fitting end to the series and comes with everything you’d expect from an ‘R’ with delicious detailing, a reassuringly expensive price tag.”

Manufactured November 2017, this example is VIN: ZDMHAAMWXJB000120. The seller purchased the bike a year and a half ago through an Iconic auction and states, “Bought it to enjoy on weekends, ended up buying another Ducati (DesertX) and using that much more. This is a one of a kind bike that I don’t wish to see wasted in a garage.”

He continues, “Offered here is bike #509 of Ducatis final homage to the Superquadro V-twin — a 1299 Panigale R Final Edition with just 12k miles. With its tricolor livery, full titanium Akrapovič exhaust, and factory race-spec components, this bike delivers track-ready performance in collector-grade form. Stored in a climate-controlled garage, this example is enhanced by a custom tune done by a professional racer and is accompanied by handpicked accessories, such as the beautiful Italian crafted seat, and added carbon fiber details for a one of a kind riding experience!”

It is number 509 of the production run.

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 1,000 miles. The odometer shows 12,307 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller notes The Motor Cafe replaced the cam drive belt a month ago and the bike has zero mechanical issues. Regarding maintenance he states, “I have full Ducati documentation, full serivce, including valves replacement.”

Modifications:
“Full Akrapovič titanium race exhaust. Upgraded with new Pirelli tires, new lithium battery, ECU tuned by a professional for a smoother power delivery, torque, and power.”

It is riding on Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires with date codes of 1224.

The sale includes two black keys, take off parts and Ducati Data Analyzer. Dynamoto stand not included.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“Minor, on front wheel and side seat cover.”

“Scratch on the bottom exhaust carbon fiber cover (that’s barely noticeable unless photographed with a macro lens like in this case).”

Currently located in Campbell, California this Ducati is offered on a clean California title. Per the California DMV, it will cost $341 to bring California registration current through July 2026.
