Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 1988 Yamaha YSR50.

The Yamaha YSR50 was the most common of the rare 50cc sportbikes that came from Japan in the late 80s and early 90s. An instant classic, the YSR50 was always street legal and always seems to put a smile on the face of riders and spectators.

Built to look like a mini RZ500, the YSR50 also featured mini performance. The 49.3cc two-stroke engine was capable of pushing the bike up to 38 miles per hour, but companies like Team Calamari have been making stock performance numbers useless with years of aftermarket parts and performance modifications if you are so inclined.

This example is VIN: JYA2RRA03JA016797. The seller purchased the bike locally three years ago and states, “I acquired this bike. It did not run so I completely tore it down and had a motor builder rebuild a complete engine, powder coated frame, wheels, and all other parts. I replaced a few things like a few electrical components, horn, throttle cable, and a few other parts. The bike has been restored to factory specs and is titled and has current registration.”

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 20 miles. The odometer shows 1,086 miles.

Maintenance:
“Full motor rebuild, new battery, new brakes, new tires.”

Modifications:
“Bike has been completely restored with all OEM parts except paint has not been restored – wanted to keep it all original on the paint – tires are aftermarket.”

It is riding on Kenda tires with date codes of 2424.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“Minor scratches on vinyl graphics and some scuffing on tank paint.”

Currently located in Upland, California this Yamaha is offered on a clean California title with registration current through October 2025.
