After Laverda filed for bankruptcy in 1992 and came back to life in Zane, Italy, they offered three models all around a 650cc motor.
The race replica variant was called the Formula, and Laverda updated the model in 1997 with a 750cc motor and goodies like Marchesini wheels, Paioli suspension, and even a Nico Bakker designed-frame. They also offered an up-spec variant called the Sport Formula which got an upgraded ECU and cams.
Laverda was able to save 26 pounds of weight just from the engine alone, resulting in a bike that most reviewers adored the handling of. Per Cycle World: “with an actual dry weight of 425 pounds, a short, 53.8-inch wheelbase and taut suspension, the 750S handles as well as anything on the bleacher side of the racetrack fence. As suggested by the fork tubes pulled way up in the triple-clamps, steering is quick and light, and it’s neutral, too-mid-corner application of the de rigueur Brembo brakes doesn’t cause the bike to stand up unduly. Yet in spite of its light handling, it’s not at all unstable. The Paioli inverted fork and single shock are both on the firm side-even at their softest settings-which gives a rough ride on bumpy roads, but the payback is unruffled composure approaching the limit. This thing is a missile on tight, twisty backroads.” The bike gnerally competed with ~1,000cc twins so it gave up some power (73 horsepower at the rear wheel) but it offered exclusivity that few brands could match.
The company was taken over by Aprilia in 2000 and after Piaggio bought Aprilia in 2004, anything related to the Laverda marque was shut down. Then again, Laverda was saved in 1993 by millionaire Francesco Tognon, so maybe some other wealthy individual will step up to save Laverda in the near future.

The seller is helping the estate of the original owner who bought the bike new in 1999. The seller notes, “The bike is a one owner bike from new. This rare Laverda sport bike has been owned since new by the current owner. It is an extremely low mileage Laverda Formula 750S, in excellent condition. It has been part of a private collection of motorcycles for the last 25 plus years. The owner has passed away and I’m representing the owner’s wife (the seller) of the bike as a 40 year friend of the original owner. This bike is part of a collection of three very rare Laverda Italian motorcycles owned by seller.”
Maintenance:
Per the seller, “the bike has been serviced during its ownership by the owner for fluid changes and flushes during its ownership. New Odyssey PC-680 AGM battery installed this week.”
