When Ducati unveiled the Diavel in 2011, it redefined what a performance cruiser could be. Radical in both styling and intent, the Diavel borrowed heavily from Ducati’s superbike DNA with a trellis frame, high-spec suspension, Brembo monoblock brakes, and cutting-edge electronics, all wrapped around a massive 240-section rear tire. The result was a machine that blended cruiser presence with superbike performance, winning MCN’s Machine of the Year award in its debut season. For 2015, the Diavel entered its second generation with a revised twin-spark V-twin producing 160 horsepower and 94 lb-ft of torque.
Far from a traditional laid-back cruiser, the Diavel’s fully adjustable 50mm Marzocchi forks, horizontal Sachs monoshock, and 17-inch wheels allow the long and low Ducati to carve bends with poise, while traction control, ABS, and selectable riding modes (Sport, Touring, and Urban) provide modern safety and flexibility.
The 2015 update also improved practicality, with service intervals stretched to 18,000 miles for the desmo valve-clearance checks, reducing the long-term cost of ownership. Whether admired for its aggressive stance, ‘cruiser-meets-superbike’ character, or everyday usability, the Diavel remains one of Ducati’s most iconic and celebrated creations.
