In 1991, Honda split the base and SP models of the NSR250R with the introduction of the SE (Super Edition) model. They had all of the SP goodies (dry clutch, adjustable suspension, special livery) except for the magnesium wheels.
Come 1994, the Japanese firm updated the NSR with an all new model dubbed the MC28. The result was arguably the ultimate 250cc street bike in Japan thanks in no small part to the PGM-IV ignition and Pro-Arm single sided swingarm. Also notable was the memory card used to start the bike.
The only changes for 1996 were in the colorway, but it was the beginning of the end for the legendary machine as the R model was discontinued.
This example is VIN: MC281201823. The seller purchased the bike from Japan with Iconic’s help. “When the bike shows up on my doorstep completely stock with every original sticker in place, zero fading on the kill switch, virtually no pitting on the fork lowers, I decided there was no way I could strip it down and turn it into a track bike. In the end, it’s been a garage queen for the past year and I’ve put only 60 miles on it here around town in SF.”
The odometer shows 2,949 kilometers, 1,832 miles.
Maintenance:
After the bike was imported from Japan, Iconic performed a service on the bike in October 2024. We performed a safety inspection, flushed the brake fluid front and rear, rebuilt one brake caliper, fitted new tires, changed the transmission oil (10w30), and synced the carbs.
Modifications:
The seller states: “The bike is completely stock.”

It is riding on Bridgestone Battlax RS10 tires tires with date codes of 3821 and 1323.
The sale includes two keys and the original keycard.
