Please Note: The VINData report for this bike calls it a 2022 model.

After the launch of the wildly popular 900SS in 1991, Ducati was looking to capitalize on its success with a more approachable entry model. What resulted was the 750SS, a bike that borrowed its name from the legendary Imola racers of the Paul Smart era but boasted a price tag much more in line with its Japanese competition.

And the badging isn’t the only thing the 750SS inherited from its ancestors; as is typical of Ducati’s smaller, square bore twins, the bike got the parts bin special treatment. Accordingly, it featured an engine based on that found in the Pantah and a tubular trellis frame that was originally designed for its bigger brother. It also incorporated the same Showa rear shock and forks as used on the 900SS, albeit with less adjustability.

As Cycle World found in its period review: “in the 750SS we have a classic, blood-red Ducati possessing all of the virtues its nameplate suggests in a reasonably priced package that is as sure to turn heads as it is to win hearts. In summation, we’d call the Ducati 750 Super Sport a winner.”

Manufactured in September 1991, this example is VIN: ZDM1NC3M6NB001286, Engine #: NC3N001198. The seller acquired it from a private party in Boise roughly 8 months ago.

During his ownership, the seller has covered five miles. The odometer shows 23,344 miles. The seller states “I saw it for sale and thought it was a cool piece of Ducati history so I bought it. I rode it the day I bought it around my neighborhood and then it went on display in the loft in my garage. I started it and let it run a few times each month to keep things wet and moving and then decided to sell it to buy something else.”
