2025-12-30 11:50:00 2025-12-30 12:00:00 America/Los_Angeles 2000 Aprilia RS250 Panorama City, California - an impressively-modified RS250 (Ohlins shock + steering damper, Arrow exhaust, carbon fiber galore) with extensive maintenance history and a California plate! https://iconicmotorbikeauctions.com/auction/2000-aprilia-rs250/ Iconic Motorbike Auctions concierge@iconicmotorbikes.com

In 1994, Aprilia released the RS250, a road-legal replica version of their RSV250. Powering the RS was a modified version of the liquid-cooled, 249cc, two-stroke, 90-degree V-Twin from Suzuki’s RGV250. The RS’s engine utilized the Suzuki’s 34mm Mikuni flat slide carbs, though it featured its own Aprilia-designed expansion chambers, barrels, air-box, and exhaust system, a revised ignition and ECU, and a higher compression ratio. Building on the already well-designed single-crank V-Twin developed by Suzuki, the changes made in Noale afforded the RS more mid-range power.

What really made the RS250 special, however, was its chassis design. Derived from the bikes built by Aprilia’s factory race program, the RS250 used a polished alloy twin-spar frame paired with an adjustable magnesium alloy banana swing-arm. The trick alloy frame was fitted with 41mm inverted Marzocchi forks and a Sachs monoshock in the back — both adjustable for preload and rebound damping.

The RS250 remained in production, receiving various updates and tweaks – including a significant revamp in ’98 — before Aprilia pulled the plug on the 250 in 2004. Despite a decade-and-a-half having passed since the last RS left the factory, the track-oriented V-Twins are regarded incredibly highly today. MCN has gone as far as to call the RS250, “Simply one of the very best, least-compromised sports motorcycles money can buy”, and VisorDown more recently stated, “The real problem with the RS250 is that if you want one, a good one, you’re too late.

This example is VIN: ZD4LDA000YS102976. The seller bought it from his friend (private party) in 2017.

During his ownership, the seller has covered roughly 3,000 miles. The odometer shows 11,923 miles.

Been riding RS250s since 1999, started out on track with the Cup Challenge bikes that were the only thing available in the USA. This bike was a grey market import that an elderly friend modified by cutting the upper fairing shorter so he could install handlebars to make the bike easier for him to ride. I took the bike and removed the handlebar modification and brought it back to clip ons and added some of my most desired modifications for canyon carving on the street and tuned it for sea level to 6k feet use in the Santa Cruz Mountains and now San Diego. Last dyno chart showed 60 HP at the rear wheel. This is the best plated RS250 I have ever seen. The engine runs smooth and strong. The jetting is near perfect (depending on the weather), and the chassis has been dialed in with the best suspension I could source. Measured 354 lbs ready to ride with 30% fuel and a full oil injection tank, this bike cuts through the canyons like a scalpel. Top speed with current gearing (14T front/45T rear sprocket) is about 120 mph. This was a forever bike for me but I got a ZX-4RR and found myself riding that instead of this RS250 a lot. It’s time for my entire RS250 stable and parts collection to go to a new home since I’ve decided to move on from mid-school carbureted bikes. This is the ultimate GP bike experience for the street (or track) and it has been a joy to own.

The seller is also listing several RS250 parts on Iconic Moto Market.

This tank is not included in the listing but is available on Iconic Moto Market.
