The natural evolution of the 1199 Superleggera, Ducati’s 1299 Superleggera was also produced in a limited run of just 500 units. Just like its predecessor, the focus on a winning combination of more power and less weight. Courtesy of an oversquare 1,285cc engine, the power figure was raised to a staggering 215hp at 11,000rpm and 108.0 lb-ft torque at 9,000 rpm – plus another 5 horsepower with the Akrapovic exhaust included in the “race kit”.

The weight savings would make Colin Chapman proud, as Ducati extensively utilized lightweight materials – the main frame, subframe, single-sided swingarm, and wheels were all made of carbon fiber. Other touches included non-electronic suspension (that was too heavy, of course), a fixed swingarm pivot (adjustability adds weight), and titanium parts throughout the engine. All this yielded a dry weight of just 339.5 pounds (368 pounds curb).

That means there’s less mass for the Öhlins suspension and impressive brakes to manage and slow down: Brembo Monobloc Evo M50 4-piston calipers up front with 2-piston calipers in the rear, complemented by Cornering ABS.
