While the GSX-R750 debuted in 1985 for most countries, the US first got it and the bigger brother 1100 in 1986. It was an instant classic – an aluminum box frame housed a 128 horsepower oil-cooled engine, and it looked the part thanks to the full bodywork. The dry weight was 433 pounds, an impressively low number for the time.

It also became the first road bike to have a cartridge fork setup and electronically activated suspension. As Bennetts found in its review, “On the open road it was astonishing. Fast and torquey like nothing else I’d ridden, but nimble too, feeling like what I imagined a proper race bike would as it flicked from left to right on the smallest of rider inputs.” For 1988 Suzuki provided a few minor updates – Enkei 3-spoke wheels, revised sidestand design, a wider front fender, and increased capacity for the oil cooler.

This example is VIN: JS1GU74AXJ2101108. The seller acquired this bike in March 2023 from a close friend in Honolulu, Hawaii.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 684 miles. The odometer shows 23,283 miles.

“I’m selling this beautiful machine because I don’t have the time and friends to ride with anymore. All of my motorcycle friends don’t have bikes anymore and it’s not as fun riding by yourself. Since my family friend purchased this bike in 2008, this motorcycle has always been garage kept and covered with a Shorai battery charger on it. I’ve never had any problems starting this motorcycle: turn on petcock, crank motor over 2 times for oil flow, 2 pumps on the throttle, starts right up!”

Maintenance:
“The original 1,052cc engine was replaced by a 1989 GSX-R 1,127cc that has been upgraded to a 1,201cc motor built by Cycle Tech in Honolulu Hawaii and had a maximum of 1000 miles on it when I purchased this bike in March 2023. Now the motor has 1684 miles on it. I’ve put on 684 miles and have serviced the oil twice with Shell Advanced Ducati 15w-50 oil twice. Last oil change was done on 12/20/25. Tires were replaced with Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Tires on 11/23 from Montgomery Motorsports in Honolulu, Hawaii.”
