Based on the Yamaha MT-09, the XSR900 offered all of the same lunacy from the 115 horsepower inline triple but with a very distinctive “neo-retro” style. Most testers preferred the XSR’s updated suspension compared to the MT; in its review, MCN said that, “The handling is as good as it gets for a bike straight out of the box. The XSR is stable, with impressive feedback and mechanical grip. It’s hard to find any fault with it at all.” The power and handling were complemented by standard ABS, traction control, and programmable ride modes.

The second generation appeared in 2022 with near identical styling but improved features and performance. A quick-shifter now came standard and Yamaha also added a fourth rider mode and a new electronics package including cornering ABS, lean angle-aware traction control, slide control, and lift control. With lighter wheels, it weighed five pounds less than its predecessor and engine improvements bumped the ponies to 117.

Manufactured in January 2024, this example is VIN: JYARN80E9RA002075. The seller is the original owner, he purchased it new from Team Motorsport in Charlotte NC in May 2024.

The odometer shows 2,682 miles.

“I am moving to riding on the track only and will be getting a track only bike I don’t have to register or insure. This is a custom motorcycle with high quality parts. No expense was spared in its build. It is like new and has been meticulously cared for. Never dropped or down. Ridden well below its full potential by myself only and is mechanically sound. I have been riding for 40+ years so I know how to care and maintain bikes.”
Maintenance:
“All maintenance and recalls have been done. Last maintenance was done 8/2025 at 2025 miles by dealer. An oil change, state inspection and recall for the throttle was completed. The 600 mile service was done a year prior 7/2024. The tires were replaced less than 500 miles ago with Pirelli new Supercorsa. They were run a 1/2 day on the track in C group at a slow pace to test the new tire.”
Modifications:
“This XSR has been heavily modified cosmetically with some additional performance upgrades. Exterior has a XSR900F kit from Velocity-Moto in Europe. I painted the body as a mock up before sending it for a professional refinish. I decided to hold off on the professional refinishing since I am moving to a track bike, so the paint has some minor defects as I am not a professional painter. The bike has an ECU Flash by VCyclenut along with full Leo Vinci exhaust and stage 1 air filter.

The bars were replaced with SP2 concept clip on style bars to change the riding position.

ProBolt titanium fasteners were used during the build and the front fender replaced with a carbon fiber look. It has a rear fender hugger and Domino grips.”

It is riding on Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires from 2025.

The sale includes 2 ignition keys and the owner’s manual.

“The fiberglass has some overspray, runs, and chips that can be repaired and refinished should the buyer wish. Small scratches on right handlebar by the brake reservoir and surface scuff on swing arm.”
