After a long series of 916-based superbikes, Ducati dramatically mixed things up styling-wise with the vertically stacked lights and double sided swingarm of the 999 in 2003.
The styling was polarizing but the riding experience was not. And while the base model was a quality machine, the up-spec S model came with a slight bump in power/torque (141 hp, 82.5 lb-ft), Ohlins 43mm forks, and the option for a second seat (“bi-posto”).
