If you’ve been following Iconic for a while, you’ll know that one of our clients and friends is Ewan McGregor, the world-renowned actor and noted motorcycle enthusiast who inspired countless riders with the “Long Way” series. He has sold several motorcycles with us over the years and we’re about to change that slightly as we’ll be adding a 4-wheeler to the mix.
Ewan acquired this out of Texas and drove it around Los Angeles briefly before making it more of a display piece on his property. He kindly donated this rat rod to Iconic to help us out and we’d like to continue the kindness so the proceeds from this auction will go towards Iconic’s 2026 sponsorship budget (including Motorcycles by Moonlight at the Barber Vintage Festival to help the museum with their “Discovery & Innovation Motorsports Fund, which gets more kids to Barber on field trips, summer camps, Scout Merit Badges and undergrad internships).
We had Daniel get it running with some new parts and service work – now it’s ready for a new home!
The core of this rat rod is a 1920 Dodge frame with a Dodge cab that appears to come from a coupe, not a pickup truck.
The “truck bed” is from a Ford Model A, and it includes an aluminum cylindrical fuel tank.
The motor is a 250 cubic inch GM inline 6 from 1970 which was painted in Chevy orange enamel. It is paired with a down-draft carb and a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission (3.90 final drive).
16″ drum brakes up front are from a 1953 Buick Roadmaster.
Every rat rod has individual touches, like the “grenades” on top of the windshield. But this one impressively seems to have the original grill/radiator, which includes a very early example of the “Dodge Brothers” logo.
This example is VIN: 391251.
The odometer shows 67,875 miles but true mileage is unknown as it came to us with a disconnected speedometer/odometer.

Currently located in Panorama City, California, (please make an appointment for an inspection) this Dodge is offered on a clean California title in Ewan’s name with registration that expired in November 2022.
The California DMV website estimates that it would cost $221 to make registration current through November 2026.
