After seeing the growing popularity of street-biased hyper-adventure bikes, BMW decided to throw their hat into the ring with the S1000XR. First introduced at EICMA back in November 2014, the model entered showrooms in June the following year.
Despite its obvious GS inspirations and familiar 33.1-inch seat height, the S1000XR did not feature the German manufacturer’s trademark boxer twin. Instead, BMW opted for the same tried-and-true in-line four as used in its sportbike platforms like the naked S1000R and the full-faired S1000RR. As a result, it boasted some sizable performance figures — to the tune of 160hp and 83lb-ft of torque.
For this reason, the S1000XR was not engineered to compete with the venerable GS line; rather, it was intended for 95% on-road use — a platform for spirited canyon carving and long days in the saddle. As MCN found in its review: “It’s upright, practical and comfortable with RR-like speed, handling and braking performance. Add in typical BMW style, build quality and a bewildering amount of optinal goodies to make your day, safer and more comfortable and you’ve got yourself a formidable all-rounder.”
This example is VIN: WB10E4304N6F88431. The seller acquired it in 2022 from a private party (and investor in Iconic Motorbikes) who was the original owner.
During his ownership, the seller has covered 11,800 miles. The odometer shows 12,334 miles.
“Garage kept, professionally maintained, too many upgrades to list. It is simply the best motorcycle I have ever owned in over 40 years of motorcycle ownership. I’m only selling it because of injuries.” The seller has bought and sold multiple bikes through Iconic, he most recently sold a 2023 Honda Grom HRC through us in February 2026.
Maintenance:
“All service documentation is available at San Diego BMW. Professionally maintained, kept, serviced. The bike was recently serviced- all records available- with zero issues approximately 300 miles ago. Oil, filter, brake fluid flush, chain drive service, new Dunlop Q5S installed. The bike runs perfectly.”
