In November 2019, Kawasaki announced that they were supporting “Bimota’s revival” with a press release that also debuted a limited run of Tesi H2 models. Since then, the “KB” lineup has expanded with the KB4 and KB4RC. For 2025, Bimota also debuted the KB998 Rimini, an impressive sportbike with the heart of a Kawasaki ZX-10RR that was built specifically for homologation to race in WSBK.
The Italian/Japanese hybrid was piloted by Axel Bassani and Alex Lowes for the 2025 season under a team called “Bimota by Kawasaki Racing” (Kawasaki also had their own factory team going as well). While Kawasaki claimed 188 hp from the ZX-10RR, Bimota’s offering puts out 200 hp at 13,600 rpm and 81.9 foot-pounds of torque at 11,700 rpm.
In typical Bimota fashion, they wrapped the Japanese motor with an exquisite frame that is comprised of a chrome-moly steel, oval-section trellis front bolted to machined billet-aluminum swingarm pivot plates. This is all complemented by Showa suspension, Brembo brakes, Marchesini wheels, and carbon fiber bodywork.
