To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Yamaha took their incredibly popular 1000cc sportbike and modified just 500 examples into near-production racers.

Specific changes made for the Yamaha R1 Limited Edition include:
An homage to Kenny Roberts and the original Yamaha racing colors with the lovely yellow/black/white ‘speedblock’ paint.

Front and rear Ohlins suspension – developed by the same team that took care of the Yamaha MotoGP bike of the time.

Slipper clutch, integrated lap timer.

Marchesini forged aluminum wheels designed specifically for this bike.

Manufactured in November 2005, this example is VIN: JYARN15E56A003428. The seller is the original owner, he purchased it new from a Yamaha dealership in Ashtabula, Ohio.

The odometer shows 2,413 miles.

It is production number 249 out of 500.

“Bought it new. Rode in Ohio. Two years later I moved to Texas. Rode for a bit, but traffic is horrible and dangerous. So it’s mostly sitting with a start yearly. It sounds great.”
