The R100/7 was a versatile member of BMW’s /7 lineup, offering the comfort and practicality of a touring motorcycle with a large displacement boxer twin. Powered by a 980cc air cooled engine, the R100/7 delivered smooth, tractable power through a five-speed transmission, while shaft drive provided BMW’s trademark low maintenance drivetrain.

For 1977, BMW revised the R100/7’s suspension with increased travel and more progressive damping. Braking was handled by disc and drum components.

The R100/7 remains an appealing choice for riders drawn to classic BMW bikes. Understated styling, and practical long distance capability has helped make the model a favorite among vintage BMW enthusiasts and riders looking for a usable classic motorcycle.

This example was transformed by Magnum Opus Customs in 2020, bringing a more contemporary look, components, and riding experience. The build retains the original 980cc engine and shaft drive layout but pairs it withg a modernized front end, revised wheels, updated controls, and a custom seat.

This example is VIN: 6140505. The seller acquired it from Magnum Opus Customs. “I have been traveling too much for work to ride the bike as much as I had hoped.

During their ownership, the seller has covered 529 miles. The odometer shows 529 miles.

Maintenance:
Service in November 2022 included changing the oils, calibrating the carburetor jets, replacing the spark plugs, and installing a charging light bulb. The fuel petcock pipes were replaced in August 2025.
