When it debuted in 1952, the Meteor 700 was the largest displacement parallel twin made in Britain. The Super Meteor came out four years later and thanks to its 40 horsepower parallel-twin engine, it was the first Royal Enfield capable of hitting 100 miles per hour.

In a 1956 test, MotorCycle magazine summarized the Super Meteor with: ‘Touring character… luxurious specification… performance literally on tap.’

The bike was powerful and comfortable, making it easy to market as a touring bike (especially with Royal Enfield’s factory-optional luggage). This also made it a suitable platform for the addition of a sidecar.

This example is VIN: SMQA4743. The seller acquired it over twenty years ago as an inheritance from his grandfather.

During his ownership, the seller has covered roughly 400 miles. The odometer shows 6,101 miles.
