Description

With the market beginning to steer towards lightweight motorcycles, Ducati began development and manufacturing of the 200 Elite in 1958. The Italian brand sought to bring innovation and their craftmanship to a new rider, and they soon after began selling the 200. The Elite was a single-cylinder motorcycle that featured an advanced (for the time) overhead camshaft design, keeping the design sleek and lightweight and the power respectable.

To keep the weight down, the frame was made of a tubular steel design, allowing Ducati to maintain the riding feel they had become synonymous with. With telescopic front forks and dual shocks out back, the 200 shined brightest in urban environments and easy, winding roads. The brakes were adequate, with drum brakes both front and rear stopping all 262 lbs. of the motorcycle. Ducati didn’t stop at just the engine and handling – the Elite featured a tear-drop shaped tank, chrome-plated accents throughout, and a simple and functional seat. As MotorcycleSpecs puts it: “Lightweight, nimble, sure-footed and possessing a gem of an engine that sounds glorious when it comes ‘on the cam’, these little Dukes are a purist’s delight to ride.

This example is VIN: DM200151947. The seller acquired this motorcycle 10 years ago from a collector in Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. He bought it as a 60th birthday gift for his father who has since passed away. “I will not get to ride it so I would like to sell it to someone that will.”

The seller states that this bike had zero miles on the odometer when he acquired it. The odometer now shows 24 miles.

Per the seller, this motorcycle has had a full engine rebuild. They have included photos of the services.
