Debuting in 1959, Schwinn marketed the Speedster as their budget-friendly model, stating it had “famous Schwinn quality throughout at real budget prices!” The Speedster utilized what Schwinn dubbed the ‘famous cantilever frame’, which simply put meant the frame flowed from underneath the seat to the head stem, which became an iconic and distinctively Schwinn look.
The middleweight bicycle offered premium features in a budget package – depending on price, the Speedster came with a 2 or 3 speed caliper brake, a 2 speed brake, or a standard coaster brake. These options allowed Schwinn to undercut current market prices for bicycles while still maintaining their reputation for quality. With a two-tone seat, chrome rims, and a steel cantilever frame, the Speedster was the image of Schwinn styling in the early 60’s.
The seller purchased this motorcycle 3 years ago from a bicycle collector in Beatrice, Nebraska. True mileage is unknown. The seller has never ridden it.
