Spanning almost an entire century in the past, the Panhead was Harley-Davidson’s newest innovation after the Knucklehead way back in 1948. Looking to expand into the touring market while addressing previous maintenance issues, the Panhead was a welcome sight for long-time Harley fans at the time, bringing much-needed quality of life remedies to the Bar and Shield’s newest motorcycle.
The latest and greatest from the American motorcycle company came packed with new features such as rear suspension – a monumental step forward for the company -, increasing cooling and venting of heat, and improving on the flawed dry-sump lubrication leaking issues. Beyond the changes, the Panhead engine became an iconic staple in Harley-Davidson’s stable, offering riders the chance to further enjoy the open road while being less worried about the bike they rode on that adventure.
This example is VIN: 64FL2657. The previous owner passed away and the seller is selling it on their behalf.

Maintenance:
Per the seller: “I had a mechanic drain, soak with white vinegar, flush, and clean the tank. He rebuilt the carbs, changed the oil, install new battery, and start the bike. It’s been started several times while I’ve been cleaning it up. Following recommended procedures, it normally starts on the 2nd, or 3rd kick when cold.”
The seller notes that the original owner’s family could not find any keys for this motorcycle when they acquired it. The seller recommends a locksmith for spare keys.
