Description

Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

Back in the 1960s, Bultaco launched a small two-stroke dual sport known as the Campera. Though it was technically based on the Mercurio, the package was modified with high fenders and a scrambler-style exhaust in order to make it appropriate for rural riding. Over time, the Campera was offered in varying displacements – this is a 175cc model that comes from the first generation.

Marketed as a “city bike that’s home in the woods”, the Campera was made to be both economical and also approachable. Accordingly, it weighed just a little over 220lbs dry, and its 175cc single put out some 16 horses — powerful enough for a top speed of 70 miles per hour but also restrained enough for an impressive 76mpg.

A period ad for the Campera declared, “Girls know… where there’s a Bultaco there’s a man!”, and “Girls may not understand Bultaco’s Campera, but they understand men.”

This example is VIN: B2102242, engine #: M2102242. The seller acquired the bike approximately nine months ago. He originally found the listing through a post on Bikeurious!

The odometer shows 1,258 miles.

Maintenance:
As noted in the above Bikeurious post, the previous owner is said to have completed a restoration on this Campera. The sale includes a selection of maintenance records documenting tank repair and painting, shock refinishing, replacement tires, as well as a replacement seat cover and peg resurfacing.

If you’d like to read more about the restoration, check out this article.
