The predecessor of the RD series, the Yamaha YDS3 was notable for many reasons. First and foremost, it was simply an excellent bike that could run rings on bikes with twice its displacement. In addition, it introduced Yamaha’s Autolube system, eliminating the need for mixing oil with gas in two-stroke bikes.

The 250cc engine produced 27 horsepower, good for a top speed of 82 miles per hour. As noted in this profile on RealClassic, period reviews from magazines like Cycle World had lots of praise for this little Yammie: ‘a comfortable riding position, a fine ride in addition to the fine handling, and a quality of finish and construction that is really remarkable.’

However, this is no typical YDS! If you’re a fan of the Caped Crusader, this ride may be the perfect addition to your bat cave. If it’s on display or out on the streets, it’ll no doubt turn heads.

This example is VIN: Y2320406. Engine: D920406. The seller purchased the bike 14 years ago and states, “Purchased it to add to my large collection. I have enjoyed caring for it and displaying it. Its time to send it on to a new owner.”
