Yamaha revolutionized the world of off-road motorcycles when they introduced the 250cc DT1 Enduro in the late 60s, and it quickly led to offerings with a wide variety of displacements. The biggest option was the 360cc (actually 351cc) RT1, which was introduced in 1970.

First year models were adorned in black with yellow pinstripes, and they were available both as Enduro models or stripped-down MX bikes with GYT (Genuine Yamaha Tuning) race kits. The Enduro model was rated at 30 horsepower.

In a period review, South Africa Motorcyclist said: “we consider that the RT1 is an excellent compromise between a scrambles machine and a road bike, that is to say, it is an ideal enduro mount. The whole machine gave the impression of a well-designed, compact, taut and business-like job which was most satisfying to ride in any conditions but particularly on those long open cross-country stretches.”

This example is VIN: RT106308, Engine #: RT1-06308. The seller states: “When I saw this for sale I went to look at it and could not believe the condition it was in so I bought it thinking I would putt it around the neighborhood. I have had it for a year and rode it very occasionally. I have decided to downsize and am getting rid of it because I am 70 years old, and I just don’t use it.”

The odometer shows 1,833 miles. The seller has put approximately 30 miles on the bike during their ownership.

Maintenance: The seller states: “The previous owner did all the work cosmetically and did the top end.”
