After Spanish manufacturer Montesa decided to withdraw from competition, Francesc “Paco” Bultó left the company (along with most of the racing department employees) and decided to start his own motorcycle company in 1958, with the brand an amalgamation of his own surname Bultó and his nickname Paco. With time, Bultaco became best known for its off-road competition bikes, such as the Sherpa, Matador, and Pursang.
One of the rarest Bultacos ever built was the Tiron (Model 73), which was only offered in 1971.
Basically a tiny version of the Sherpa, the Tiron is a trials bike with ergonomics best suited for younger riders and the 100cc engine from a Lobito.
It is estimated that roughly 300 were built, and most were given to the best Bultaco dealers in the US.
This example is VIN: 7300310. The seller acquired it in October 2025.
During his ownership, the seller has only started the bike, he has not ridden it. There is no odometer, true mileage is unknown.
The seller is a well-known restorer of Bultacos in Southern California. This was on of 11 Bultaco he acquired from a collection in Las Cruces, New Mexico last year.
Maintenance:
The bike was restored some years ago so I went over all the systems.
New fuel lines and other rubber parts replaced. Complete check over and full cosmetic detailing. Bike starts easily and runs perfect.
Mechanical Issues:
The seller states that the lights do not work.
Modifications:
This bike is a excellent example of an original 1971 Bultaco Tiron. Stainless steel spokes.
Inside of the tank:
It is riding on Pirelli tires that have aged out.
