In 1968, Yamaha introduced one of their most important motorcycles of all time – the DT-1 Enduro. They sold 50,000 units in the first year, which is an impressive number when you consider that in 2017, the FZ/MT-07 was Yamaha’s best seller in the US with 3,981 units sold.

It was so popular that by 1971, Yamaha had added 90cc, 125cc, 175cc, and 360cc versions of the Enduro (plus MX versions, as well). For more on how this bike changed motorcycling in the US (and why it’s one of the most important bikes that Yamaha ever built), check out this excellent profile on BikeEXIF.

The 246cc 2-stroke single cylinder engine was good for about 20 horsepower, and it was paired with Ceriani-type forks (which Yamaha called “Enduro-Travel Forks”). Yamaha claimed a top speed of about 70 mph and a dry weight of just 231 pounds.

This example is VIN: DT1F27265, Engine #: DT1F-42503. The seller bought this bike six years ago from a private party in British Columbia.

The odometer shows 2,327 miles.

“Starts easy, runs very nice, idles nice, runs strong and revs smooth. This bike has undergone a ground up restoration at some point in its life by the looks of it.”

“I purchased this bike to display in my Yamaha dealership, I sold the dealership and no longer have room for it.” The seller recently sold a Yamaha TDR250 and 1973 Yamaha RD350 through Iconic and he also has a Yamaha YR-1 350 on our Buy It Now section as well.

Maintenance:
“None. It has been in storage/ display in my dealership the past 6 years. Just added a new battery and fuel to get it running for sale.”
“There is a bit of leaking of 2 stroke injection oil on the left side of the motor when the bike is sitting.” Our partners at Dreamcycle inspected the bike and have provided the following condition report:

Modifications:
