2026-04-21 09:50:00 2026-04-21 10:00:00 America/Los_Angeles 1972 Honda Z50 Mini Trail Nampa, Idaho - A resto-mod Z50 'Monkey' with undeniable character, and 0 miles since its rebuild. https://iconicmotorbikeauctions.com/auction/1972-honda-z50-mini-trail/ Iconic Motorbike Auctions concierge@iconicmotorbikes.com

Affectionately called the “Monkey” in other markets, the Mini Trail (as branded in the US) started in 1961 as a ride at the Tama Tech amusement park, a former venture owned by a Honda subsidiary that was all about promoting the “joys of driving”.

The name came from the fact that riders looked like monkeys on the diminutive machines, but the bikes were so popular that Honda created a production version in 1964. Japan and Europe got to play with it first, but American riders got their chance in 1968 with a model designated the Z50.

This example is VIN: CT70E-119529. The seller hase owned the bike since 2015.

The bike does not have an odometer.

Maintenance:
“I refurbished this bike starting in mid 2020 and finishing in February 2026, including repainting the bike in Candy Metallic Gold as well as rebuilding with all new parts.
The 50cc four-stroke single is now an 88cc. The bike has a three-speed semi-automatic transmission, a kick starter, and many new CHP Motorsports parts, including a new wiring harness, all electronics, switches and bulbs. New carburetor, an upswept race exhaust system, Powder coated case covers, and head. Front forks rebuilt with new springs and cartridges.

“The bike is a frame off restoration, with zero miles on it since the rebuild. The bike is like new condition, with all parts brand new or completely refurbished.”

Modifications:

“New dual rear shocks, new drum brakes, 8″ multi-piece wheels powder coated red, a black & red vinyl-upholstered seat, black powder coated fenders, twist-locking folding handlebars, and a side stand. All other parts custom powder coated flat black with 20% shine. The hollow T-bone frame was refinished in black powder coat as part of the refurbishment.”

Inside of the tank:
