In 1971, Moto Guzzi set a sales record with their 750cc Ambassador – which meant that the company had a lot riding on the successor: the 850cc Eldorado.

In addition to the larger motor, the Eldorado got an extra gear in the transmission (up to five). Moto Guzzi’s American importer, Mike Berliner, wanted to take on the Harley-Davidson FLH and the Eldorado was well-suited for that. Both bikes produced about 65 horsepower but the Guzzi did it with a much smaller engine (850cc vs 1200), plus it was cheaper, sportier, and weighed nearly 200 pounds less!

Manufactured in January of 1972, this example is VIN: 50426VP, Engine #: 50426VP.

The odometer shows 38,871 miles, however the speedometer/odometer is internally seized so true mileage is unknown.
