Description
Additional photos of this Laverda 1200 are available here for your perusal.
A very dear friend of ours bought this (VIN: 12001703) at the Mecum Las Vegas auction in 2020, where it was listed as a “Laverda 1200 Racer”. He was planning to use it for a vintage track day, however he’s since decided to go in a different direction. Please note that Mecum had it listed with a salvage title, however we have the Texas title in hand and there are no indications thereof.
The Mecum listing also states that this is in “unrestored lightened as raced” condition as it has competed in an AMA event previously. It’s noted as having hot cams and Dell’Orto carbs with velocity stacks.
The history is sparse, but the previous listing stated that this was built by BMW of Ft. Worth.
Laverda officially introduced the 1200 in their production bikes in 1978, so it is unclear to us if a later motor was swapped in.
Dual Brembo front brakes with Brembo master cylinder and steel braided brake lines.
Smiths chronometric tachometer.
It has been sitting for at least nine months. If the next owner would like this to be a runner, our White Glove service would be glad to assist!
