Introduced during the golden age of Japanese two-stroke engineering, the Suzuki GT250 represents one of the most celebrated quarter-liter sport bikes of the 1970s, famously bridging the gap between reliable lightweight commuting and aggressive mid-capacity performance.
Constructed around a tubular steel double-cradle frame, the bike was powered by a 31-hp 247cc two-stroke parallel-twin that featured Suzuki’s one-piece cylinder head and ram-air cooling system, as well as its “Crankcase Cylinder Injection” system which eliminated the need to premix fuel. Weighing in at just a tad over 350lbs wet, the 1975 model year bike also received a hydraulic disc brake in lieu of older year’s drum unit.
All-in-all, it was a surprisingly innovative motorcycle for its time. Today, the GT250 has become increasingly sought-after thanks to its authentic vintage 1970s aesthetics and unmistakable two-stroke exhaust note, while still possessing enough performance to be enjoyed by modern riders.
