After Spanish manufacturer Montesa decided to withdraw from competition, Francesc “Paco” Bultó left the company (along with most of the racing department employees) and decided to start his own motorcycle company in 1958, with the brand an amalgamation of his own surname Bultó and his nickname Paco. Despite Bultaco’s primitive facilities — early models were built on one of Bultó’s family farms — the upstart manufacturer had a bike ready for the press by 1959. And here’s the thing: just two months later, they entered their first Spanish Grand Prix, sweeping seven of the first ten finishing positions in the 125cc class in the process.

With time, Bultaco became best known for its off-road competition bikes, such as the Sherpa T, the Matador, and the Pursang. Originally offered in displacements ranging from 125cc to 350cc, the highest-spec Pursang grew to 370cc (like the engine in the bike being offered today) before the first closure of the factory in 1979.

Though Bultaco eventually offered an off-the-shelf flat track racer known as the Astro, many enthusiasts opted to mount the firm’s engines in aftermarket, purpose-built frames. One such name was Boss Racing frames, a BMX bike specialist who manufactured a series of flat track frames circa 1973-1986.

This example is VIN: B00023, Engine #: HM16800231. The seller acquired the bike six years ago.

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 10 miles. There is no odometer; true mileage is unknown.

Maintenance:
The seller reports that he built the bike “from the frame up” and that it “has once race on it at the Lodi Cycle Bowl in 2022 with Lance Jones at the controls. Race or show it!”
