Additional photos of this 1977 Yamaha RD400 are available here for your perusal.

Pasha Afshar of Pasha Racing is well-known in the world of motocross, but he isn’t only interested in dirt. Here’s an impressive custom RD400 that he put together.

We could tell you all about how awesome RD400s are, but frankly this bike (VIN: 1A1313512, Engine #: 1A1313512) is so far from stock it doesn’t even matter. It’s an RD that’s been improved in just about every way, and the chassis has 10,549 miles.

Let’s start with the motor, which was built by Terry Varner of Varner Motorsports. It has approximately 200 miles on it since the build. The bike utilizes the stock oil injection system (which was recently rebuilt), however Pasha recommends that you add pre-mix because the stock system is designed to handle 30-40 horsepower while this motor “produces about 62.” He says you should “help the oil injection system out” by adding pre-mix with a roughly 40:1-50:1 ratio if you’re taking advantage of the motor’s full capabilities.

It features DG heads, VForce intakes, and Mikuni square body carbs with UNI foam filters.

Stopping duties up front are handled by a Brembo set up (calipers and rotors).

Everything is set off with a custom paint job.

Race Tech gold nitride forks with gold valve kit.

Moto Carrera swing arm and rearsets.

Renthal grips, bar end mirrors.

Steel braided brake lines (front and rear) and a fork brace.

Hagon shocks.

Custom exhaust specifically made for this bike with a HVCcycle silencer.

KTM/Brembo hydraulic clutch.

Cosmetic Blemishes:

It is riding on Bridgestone Spitfire 11 tires with date codes of 4209 and 1010.

Currently located in Encino, California, this Yamaha is offered on a clean California title with registration current through May 2022.
