Fantic Motors may be one of the lesser known Italian motorcycle builders, but since 1968 they have offered a range of bikes both on and off-road powered by everything from 50cc Italian two strokes to Yamaha engined motocrossers. This Fantic Chopper 125 is a piece of moto history that comes from the 1970’s and while it is a bit of an oddity and certainly emotes a 70’s vibe it has curiously aged well. Designed to be an option for younger riders facing tough regulations in the UK, the Chopper 125 gave an easy rider look in a cheap and cheerful package!
Fantic made the Chopper with 50cc and 125cc motor options – neither were particularly fast but the 125cc version could top 70 mph in the right conditions. The Minarelli two-stroke 125 (actually 123cc) motor produced 13.2 horsepower, enough to get the 260 pound bike up to reasonable speeds with a younger rider on board. The bike featured wildly extended forks, ape hangers and an enormous backrest. At a quick glance the bike could maybe pass for some kind of Harley but the whir of its two stroke engine would give it away.
This particular Fantic Chopper came to Iconic Motorbikes from Kamikaze Cycles where it had been on display for many years. Still very original and with zero miles showing, this Fantic would be perfect for a collection or even as a neighborhood rider!

Cosmetic Blemishes:
Wear on the side cover decal.
Oxidation and pitting on the chrome.
Scratches and fading on the tank.
Mechanical issues: In preparation of the listing, the seller had Iconic look over the bike and perform a carb clean, tank cleaning, oil change, chrome polish, and installation of a new battery. Daniel the mechanic also noted the following: “The tires are old and should be replaced if the next owner would like to ride this Fantic, also the choke cable is missing its anchor, the turn signals and low beam are non-functional, the forks have minimal to no oil in them, and the headlight is slightly bent.”
