As Pulp MX put it, “in the annals of Yamaha history, few bikes have been as celebrated as the YZ465. Only produced for two years in the early 80’s, the 465’s combination of abundant power, supple suspension, and tight handling, made it the Japanese bike to beat. Even today, YZ465’s are treasured classic racers.

This example (Engine #: 0020905) has been taken to the next level thanks to extensive modifications and engine work. The seller (Tony Panterra of Pasha Racing) built it using a collection of YZ parts he had accumulated over the years as a tribute to the European model campaigned by Finnish MX legend Heikki Mikkola, who won the 1977 and 1978 World Championships on a Yamaha.

While YZ465s in the US were yellow and black, the European models were white and red.

There is no odometer, true mileage is unknown. The seller estimates that it has less than one hour on it since the engine was built eight years ago – it was ridden once and then put on display.

Modifications:
The motor was built by Factory Yamaha mechanic James “Al” Holley. It was a “full race” build that was bored out (490cc) and ported with a modified head and a stuffed crankshaft. The transmission was also rebuilt.

The seller states that it features “1 of 3 ever made factory billet triple clamps made by Yamaha.”

Pro-Form Racing expansion chamber and silencer.

Pro Taper handlebars.

Custom seat cover.

Noleen J6 Suspension forks and remote reservoir shock.

Sun Rims wheels with tires from 2010.

Scott grips.

VForce3 Reed Valve System.

SCR Graphics kit.

Aftermarket pegs.

Cosmetic Blemishes:

The sale includes a color-matched 6D helmet.
