Modeled after the flat track Honda racing bikes the company was racing at famous tracks like Ascot in California, the 491cc V-twin was never intended as a race bike. It shared engine technology with Honda’s VT cruiser lineup and was fielded as a middleweight sport mount. The Honda Ascot is a name given to two motorcycles produced by Honda in the early 1980s. The FT500 and VT500FT.
The goal of the Ascot for Honda was to create a bike usable by commuters wanting something easy to start and maintain and something attractive for sport riders looking for something light and powerful with good handling. The Ascot was equipped with few nice components such as dual-piston disc brakes (front and rear) and a 35mm constant-velocity carb. The 375 pound bike could reach an approximate top speed of 95mph thanks to its 498cc single developing 33hp.

Manufactured March 1982 this example is VIN: JH2PC0702CM010609. The seller purchased the bike from a Mecum auction approximately 2 years ago.
The odometer shows 2,011 miles. The seller has covered about 50 miles during his ownership. He states “I want people to know this bike has been ridden and not just cleaned up and bagged.”
Maintenance:
The seller states: “Full service: New tubeless tires, oil and filter, spark plugs, both brake calipers rebuilt, both master cylinders rebuilt. Carbs cleaned, new petcock, wheel bearings greased, forks rebuild (15wt).
Modifications:
The bike appears to be stock.

It is riding on Dunlop Roadmaster TT100 tires with date codes of 3322 and 4522.
